Potential fallout of your website ranking from the changes of “Mobilegeddon”

Now the day is here, there are lots of small businesses which are going to get surprise by the reduced number of visitors which has dropped significantly. The companies are spending huge amount of efforts and money to appear high in the Google rankings, which surely feel highly prized, but with the recent changes in Google policies, it will have significant impact on their search results.

Google is due to make a major update to its mobile search algorithm on 21ST April, in a move expected to ripple across the Internet. The websites that doesn’t seems to be mobile friendly will be dropping their search rankings, reducing the number of the visitors to their websites.

Google’s mobile-friendliness as ranking signal

It is overwhelming the way the Internet is going and businesses need to adapt the changes accordingly. You can have a great website, have a good business and great products/services to offer, but it would be unfair if customers can’t find you.

Google’s new change in policy has been nicked named as “Mobile-geddon”. It will be expanding the use of mobile-friendliness as the ranking signal. This change will affect mobile searches in all the languages world-wide and will have significant impact in the search results. Consequently, users will find it easier to get relevant, high quality search results that are optimized for their devices.

When you are a monopoly, you have got to look public good.  As people increasingly search on their Smartphones, Google wants to make sure that they find the content that is not only timely and relevant but also good to interact and read on smaller cell phone screens.  Hence, Google will use this “mobile-friendliness” as one of the many factors to help the rank searches done on the mobile devices.

As more and more people uses mobile devices to access the web, Google’s algorithms have adapted these usage patterns. With the new change in the policy, Google will from now on prioritizing the companies that have mobile friendly websites.
